Good to know: Kizutel supports both IPoE (Dynamic) and PPPoE for all nbn® services. In most cases your modem will configure itself automatically within a few minutes of being connected. Only follow the manual steps below if automatic setup does not work.
1
Connect your modem to the nbn® connection point

The connection method depends on your nbn® technology type. Identify yours below:

FTTP Fibre to the Premises

Use an Ethernet cable (RJ-45) from the UNI-D1 port on your nbn® connection box to the red WAN port on the modem. Use UNI-D1 unless your activation email specifies a different port.

HFC Hybrid Fibre Coaxial

Connect an Ethernet cable from the LAN1 port on your nbn® connection box to the red WAN port on the modem. Ensure the nbn® box is powered on and showing a solid connection light.

FTTN / FTTC

Connect the included grey DSL cable from the grey DSL port on the modem to your wall phone socket. For FTTC, you will also have a small nbn® connection device — connect Ethernet from it to the red WAN port.

Fixed Wireless

Connect an Ethernet cable from the LAN port on your nbn® outdoor unit's connection box (mounted inside) to the red WAN port on the modem.

Note: Use a CAT-5e or better Ethernet cable for speeds above 100 Mbps. If your nbn® connection box has multiple data ports, use the provisioned port specified in your Kizutel activation email.
2
Power on and connect a device

Plug in the modem's power adapter and wait for the front light to show solid blue — this indicates the modem is ready. This can take up to 3 minutes on first boot.

Connect a laptop, phone, or tablet to the modem using:

  • Wi-Fi: Find the network name (SSID) and password on the label on the bottom of the modem or the included fridge magnet. A QR code is also printed on the magnet for easy connection.
  • Ethernet: Plug a cable into any of the four yellow LAN ports on the back of the modem.
3
Log in to the modem interface

Open any web browser (Chrome, Edge, Firefox, or Safari) and navigate to:

192.168.0.1   or   http://mygateway/

You will see the modem login screen. Enter the following credentials:

  • Username: admin
  • Password: The Wi-Fi password printed on the modem label or fridge magnet (not the word "Telstra" — that applies to Gen 1/2 only)
4
Configure the internet connection

Kizutel supports both IPoE and PPPoE. Choose the method that applies or try IPoE first as it requires no credentials:

IPoE / Dynamic (Recommended)

  1. Go to Internet
  2. Set connection type to Dynamic or IPoE
  3. Click Save
  4. Wait up to 5 minutes for the modem to connect — reboot if needed

PPPoE

  1. Go to Internet
  2. Set connection type to PPPoE
  3. Enter your Kizutel PPPoE username and password (from your welcome email)
  4. Click Save

Once connected, the modem's front light should show solid blue. Run a speed test at fast.com or speedtest.net to confirm your connection.
